PREPARE YOUR LAWN FOR WINTER
Rejuvenating your lawn after a long, hot, dry summer, and preventing the onset of wintergrass is important to keep your lawn in the best possible condition. To help you achieve this, we offer the following services.
SERVICES IN MARCH, APRIL, MAY and JUNE
- pre-emergent Wintergrass control (using the brand-new product Barricade, and applied with a wetting agent)
- the option to add trace elements and premium slow-release fertiliser
- coring/aerating
WINTERGRASS CONTROL
Wintergrass attacks most lawns every season, then dies out in early summer leaving sparse patches where it has invaded the lawn. For the first time, a once-per-year pre-emergent herbicide to eliminate your Wintergrass is now available. Barricade is a brand new product with a brand new active ingredient. Unlike the previous herbicide this requires no watering in and, in trials, has had consistently long residual control. The key is, your lawn MUST be sprayed BEFORE you notice Wintergrass germinating. Ideally, this will be March and early April, so you need to book this service now if you have previously had Wintergrass infestations.
If Wintergrass is already evident (ie has already germinated), don’t worry – we will be combining Barricade with a post-emergent herbicide to control the weeds. This service will be offered during the Winter months, when all Wintergrass has germinated.
WETTING AGENTS
Industry best practice in WA is to apply wetting agents before winter, as well as during summer, to correct water repellence of turf and soil. Wetting agents applied during summer are now exhausted. Applying them again now prevents rainfall pooling on the surface or running off and failing to nourish the lawn for many weeks into winter. Wetting agents are applied free-of-charge, with every application of Wintergrass pre-emergent herbicide.
FERTILISATION
Prior to winter is the most important feeding of the year. This year we will be blending trace elements with the proven slow-release fertiliser Coron to give lawngrass a sustained feed and prevent it losing condition when it is weakest.
CORING/AERATING
Helps revive your lawn after a long hot, dry summer. There is still 6-8 weeks of peak growth left in your lawn. Coring/aerating will vastly improve any dry or worn patches by penetrating the dry, repellent surface and improving water, fertiliser and wetting agent uptake into the rootzone, where it is most needed. This service includes wetting agent and fertiliser.
PROGRAMS
We also offer four visit-per-year programs, including an obligation-free, costed proposal for the service. Extra benefits include insect and lawn fungus control, sustained feeding of your lawn, soil pH analysis, pH correction if required, sprinkler system maintenance, and control of foreign grasses such as crabgrass, kikuyu and Nutgrass.
